Egg donation is a medical procedure in which a female, known as the donor, provides her eggs (oocytes) to be used by a recipient for assisted reproduction. This process is typically employed in situations where a person or couple is unable to conceive a child on their own due to female infertility, being two same-sex intended male parents or other medical conditions. Egg donation is a component of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and is a means of helping individuals or couples achieve one or more pregnancies.

Female patients who struggle to conceive may resort to being on the receiving end of egg donation – a light at what seems to be the end of their infertility tunnel.

VEDA Egg Donation Agency has been around since 2014 helping match recipients with the right egg donors.

A need for egg donation may arise for several reasons:

•  When a woman cannot generate a pregnancy using her own eggs
•  When the attempt at still using one’s own eggs is not advisable or not financially feasible
•  When a woman has reached advanced maternal age
•  When a woman experiences early onset of menopause
•  When a woman becomes aware of being born without ovaries
•  When a woman’s reproductive organs have been damaged or removed due to disease or other circumstances
•  When a woman carries a genetic condition or was born with a genetic disorder rendering her infertile or potentially posing a risk to any offspring
•  When any other diagnosis can be circumvented by using donor eggs from another woman
•  When women have none of these issues, but continue to be unsuccessful using their own eggs (undiagnosed infertility)
•  When homosexual male couples pursue treatment using surrogacy
